ManCity and Liverpool want FA Cup
For several years of planned track work over Easter, there is around the semi-final weekend on 16/17. April neither between Manchester and London nor between Liverpool and London direct connections. Despite complaints of the followers of both clubs, the FA so far holds to Wembley as the venue.
“Without fast, direct trains, many people will not have any other option to drive as a car to fly, excessively complex train travel or to book an overnight stay”, wrote Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Liverpools mayor Steve Rotheram on Tuesday in A common letter and warned against excessive costs and impact on the environment.
The other semi-final is not affected by the train failures: With the FC Chelsea and Crystal Palace, two London clubs meet each other.
